The Stonewall Riots is such an important moment for the LGBTI rights movement in Western democracies. And yet I have only ever really skimmed the surface of what actually happened in June 1969.
I have never been one for history lessons, but recently I have felt the need to understand just how far we have come (and just how far we still have to go!).
With Marriage Equality debates happening this past year in countries like Australia and Ireland (among others), when I saw this PBS documentary airing I had to watch it, I had to understand.
I highly recommend this documentary video if you are interested in understanding and hearing from some of the people who were part of the movement.
